It has been a fantastic start to the summer term in Year 6. Everyone has returned refreshed, positive, and ready to take on new goals.

This term, our new topic is Lights, Camera, Action!, where we will be exploring the history of film and how it has developed over the years. The children are already excited to learn about how movies have evolved from early cinema to the modern day. In Art we designed our Mickey Mouse considering the colour and design ahead of making a model our of plaster of paris.

In English, we have begun our next Talk for Writing unit, based on a narrative called Lost .This involves stories where a character loses something important or must go on a journey to find it. The pupils have made a great start and are already generating some creative ideas.

Another highlight of the week was getting out onto the field to play cricket. We focused on developing our ball skills and fielding techniques, particularly mastering the long barrier. This involves dropping to one knee with the other foot extended to create a strong barrier, while using the hands to safely collect the ball in front. The children showed great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the session.
