This week Year 2 took part in a 'Hindu Wedding' workshop, this provided them with an insight into how the Hindu religion celebrated ceremonies, such as weddings. The children learnt about rituals, clothing and body art and how they play a significant role. It was a fantastic experience for the pupils to handle and dress up in items, allowing them to experience the Hindu religion first-hand. It was an extremely insightful day and it enabled the year group to appreciate the different beliefs and traditions and the meaning behind them.
WB 5.1.26
It has been lovely to welcome the children back this week, after the Christmas break. They have been enthusiastic to tackle lessons and tasks, which has been great to see. We have begun our new Talk for Writing unit based on 'Pirate Pam', where the children were excited to search for treasure and become pirates. We have also been enjoying looking at money in Maths, discussing different monetary terms and units, looking at a variety of coins and notes we use in everyday life. The children have been introduced to combining pounds and pence together using a decimal point. Although it has been extremely cold this week, it has not stopped us in outdoor PE, where the children have been practising their throwing and catching skills, as our focus is netall this half term. Happy New Year everyone!
