Friday 21st March
Another busy week in EYFS! This week the children learned about St Patrick's Day. They listened carefully to how he brought Christianity to Ireland and were excited to hear the folklore about leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold! They even had fun having a go at some Irish dancing!
There has been lots of outside learning as the sun has finally started to shine. It has been lovely to see how the children have developed their confidence in using our resources to set up their own challenges for each other. This week there was a lot of jumping involving recognising phonic sounds and showing their understanding of number. During our welly walks, the children enjoyed spotting more signs of Spring and discovered some new dens to play in!
On Friday we had another colourful day as the children wore red for Red Nose Day!
Friday 7.3.25
Such an exciting week with lots going on! Our new Talk for Writing text has a main character of a bee. We are lucky enough to have a member fo staff in school who is also a beekeeper and she paid a visit to EYFS - complete with beekeeper outfit! The children were fascinated and asked lots of questions. To celebrate World Book Day the whole school dressed up as our favourite characters and enjoyed a book swap where the children got to choose a book to take home and keep. On the same day our wonderful P.T.A. treated the children to their first school disco! It was a fabulous afternoon - we saw some amazing dance moves and so many smiles!
Friday 28th February
This week the children were learning all about St. David's Day. They learnt that leeks and daffodils are symbols of Wales and this special celebration. They were fascinated to handle and smell a leek. Lots of children were inspired to paint the daffodils and mixed primary colours to make the colours they needed. The creativity continued as others used a collage technique to make daffodils. Then we conducted an investigation to find out what would happen if we added colouring to the daffodils' water. There were many predictions and we quickly saw how the petals began to change colour. In the outside area , the first glimpses of the sun, prompted some collaborative building.
