Summer 2

WB 22.6.26

Year 2 enjoyed a minibeast hunt in the sunshine this week, whilst exploring different micro-habitats. We discussed the conditions each insect lived in and the reasoning behind it.

WB 15.6.26

This week the children have been designing their scones ready for the cream tea event. They are very excited to test their favourite flavours and share them with parents! We have also been exploring 'time' in Maths this week. The children have looked at 'o'clock', 'half past' and 'quarter past' times, all of which they have shown a great understanding with.

WB 8.6.26

This week in DT, Year 2 had their first practise of baking scones. They discussed the skills involved and really enjoyed combining the ingredients, kneading the dough and using the cutters to create their scones. After they were baked, the children loved taste testing their creations!

WB 1.6.26

We cannot believe this is the final half term of Year 2! The year has flown by, but we still have another busy and exciting seven weeks ahead of us. We started the week with introducing our new DT topic of baking scones, for our upcoming annual  'Cream Tea' event. The children are extremely excited about baking and experimenting with different fillings. They tasted a variety of fillings, which could possibly provide them with inspiration for their own designs, this included a variety of fruits: dried mixed fruit, sultanas, dried apricots and glacē cherries. They then rated the flavours and described their taste. In Maths, we have continued with our 'Position and Movement' unit, the children have been learning different directions and ways to turn, including clockwise and anti-clockwise.
