School House System

When pupils join our school, they are placed in a team ‘house’ and they will normally stay in this during their entire time here at Fiveways (siblings are placed in the same house). Each House has a House Captain, teachers and support staff.

Throughout the school year, multiple events take place including, House assemblies (organised by the children) and Sports Day. ‘House Points’ are awarded throughout the year, for reasons such as: showing exemplary behaviour and for following our 5 ways to be (our core values) of Ready, Kind, Safe, Resilience and Curiosity. House points, as well as sporting events contribute to one house being named the overall winners for the academic year and will receive a reward and a trophy.

Another important role of the 'Houses' is to further strengthen pupil voice and create even stronger interactions between our younger and older pupils.

As a school, we are keen to instil a love of reading and with that in mind, we chose to name our houses after well renowned authors. Our pupils contributed to the authors that were chosen.

Our six houses:

William Shakespeare (Green)

Charles Dickens (Dark blue)

Julia Donaldson (Orange)

Malorie Blackman (Red)

Beatrix Potter (Purple)

Michael Morpurgo (Light Blue)

Our School Library is stocked with a variety of titles written by our selected authors that the children can read at their leisure.

Any questions regarding your child’s House please contact the school office.
