Another wonderful week of learning in Year 1! Here is a glimpse into our week.
Forest School - From building shelters to exploring the flora and fauna, children are learning to collaborate, problem-solve, and grow in a safe, nurturing environment.
Maths - This week, our pupils are engaging with the part-whole model to understand numbers up to 100. By breaking down numbers into parts and wholes using exciting resources, they develop a solid foundation in place value. From 10s and 1s to creating their own number stories, maths has never been this fun!
English - Our innovate storytelling sessions are taking us on a journey to a whimsical farmyard setting! Children are crafting their own tales inspired by The Little Green Dinosaur featuring adorable animal characters.
Art – this week, the children have been practising how to draw faces particularly for different fairy tale characters. They have really enjoyed it!
P.E - The children have continued to develop their racket skills. They have been balancing tennis balls on their rackets and zigzaging through cones.

This week, we have been busy exploring a variety of subjects, all while having fun and developing essential skills! Here's a sneak peek into what we’ve been up to:
Maths: we have been sharpening our understanding of position and direction, learning to navigate through both the physical and numerical world using ordinal numbers like first, second, and third.
English: We discovered the enchanting tale of the The Little Green Dinosaur. This delightful story has sparked our imagination and creativity!
P.E: This week’s P.E lesson saw the children honing their tennis skills with the coaches. They practised their racket skills and teamwork. The excitement on the court was tangible!
Computing: we delved into the world of pictograms, learning how to represent data visually.
R.E: Our exploration of cultural stories led us to the beautiful Hindu creation story. After learning about it, we decorated our own lotus flowers and wrote an ‘I wonder…’ comment on them. We then folded the petals over and popped them in some water to see them bloom. It was magical!
