In PSHE, we will be learning about money and in computing the children will be learning about collecting, and managing, data.

Our Talk 4 Writing units this half term are linked to 'The Giant's Lost Tooth' and 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth'.

In Maths, the children will be learning about numbers to 100. The will also be learning about telling o'clock and half past times and money.

Week Beginning 15th June

We have had another busy week in year 1!

We launched our next Talk4Writing unit this weel. The children took it in turns to wash our small world animals as our focus text is How To Wash A Woolly Mammoth! While washing, the children discussed what they were doing and thought about interesting vocabulary they could use. In Maths, the children started learning about money. We focused on recognising the values of different coins and notes and then adding different values together to find a total.

In Forest School this week, the children had the opportunity to make Stick Men. It was a very popular station!

Week Beginning 8th June

This week, the children had their first Forest School sessions with Libby Ladybird and Lisa Lacewing. The children learnt all about the rules of Forest School and had the opportunity to explore the different areas. The mud kitchen, hammocks and water play areas were definitely the most popular! We are already looking forward to our next session!

Week Beginning 1st June

The children have made an enthusiastic return to school after their half term break. This week, they having been making numbers from 50 to 100 out of Base 10 and tens and ones discs. The children have been using place value mats to partition the numbers into tens and ones.

In English, the children completed their innovation writing linked to 'The Giant's Lost Tooth'. As a class, we decided to change the main character to a Troll and most children decided to write that he had lost his club.

The children also started their sketching unit. In the first lesson, the children practised drawing a face and mapping out the proportions using lines to help them.

What a fantastic first week back!
