Monday 31st March 2025.

We can't quite believe that we have come to the end of the Spring Term, it has really flown by!

It means that we have now come to the end of our Brilliant Brazil topic and it's safe to say that we now know a lot more about the country, culture and music than we did before. We completed our lino printing and were delighted with the vibrant and colourful outcomes while in English we wrote a setting description. In our other subjects we carrried out assessments to see how much progress we have made.

Having worked really hard we're now more than ready for the Easter Break :)

Monday 24th March 2025.

We are very proud of our Year 6 children this week as they completed their Mock SATs week. They were calm and confident displaying huge amounts of resilience and determination.

Alongside the tests we completed our innovate write in English and looked at vertically opposite angles, adjacent angles alongwith angles in a trianglein Maths. As part of our Science learning we carried out an experiment which looked at how the beaks of birds have adapted over time. The experiment involved the children using a range of different items which represented a bird's beak (tweezers, pegs, chopsticks and spoons) to transfer food - from one container to another. The children wrote up the experiment alongwith a prediction and created a graph to represent their results.

We also took part in this terms Whole School Agents of Change project where the children earnt themselves a stamp for completing the "celebrate Yourself'  challenge where they reflected on how special and unique they are. We also have children sharing their home language - we loved learning some portuguese words!

This week we have worked on our recount in English, completing a series of short burst pieces of writing alongwith putting togther a tool kit. We have now began our innovate writing and are working really hard to include all the tools.

In Maths we continued our learning around angles and moved on to use a protractor to measure angles. In Art we practiced using a lino cutter to etch out a part of our design which we found really useful as we are now more prepared for when we do our final piece in a couple of weeks time.

We all enjoyed dressing up in red on Friday to mark Red Nose Day, raising money for charity and being Agents of Change.

Monday 10th March 2025.

This week we have been busy and very active, especially in our PE lessons where we continued building on our samba dance sequence and  focussed on our core muscles as part of our circuit training.

In Art we worked on our design for our lino printing,  we considered what it would look like as a repeated pattern and the colours we might use. We also discussed the importance of creating a design which we would be able to carve out of the lino tile. We then shared our designs with the class under the visualiser.

We also took part in Funky Sock Day which celebrated all the Young Carers amongst us who do such a wonderful job at caring for others. They are truly an inspiration to all of us.

Monday 24th February 2025.

We’ have had a fantastic first week back, beginning the Spring Term with a spring in our step! The sun has even come out amongst the spring showers which hasn't dampened our spirits.

In PE we began our Dance unit where we will be learning Samba, focussing week by week on specific steps with a view to putting them all together into a  dance sequence which we will perform at the end of the term. For Outdoor PE this term we will be doing Circuits which will include push ups and jumping jacks.

In Science we started looking at Fossils and how they help us to understand why things are they way they are.

As part of computing we will be learning about AI (Artificial Intelligence) and it’s place in our society. In our first lesson we carried out the Turing Test to see if we were speaking to a human or robot.

In Geography we compared the UK with Brazil, exploring the different landscape, discussing whether it is physical or human geography. It was enlightening to see how similar we are despite the differences which exist between the two countries.

Our Big Question in RE this term is ‘ Creation or Science:  Conflicting or Complementary?  This week we created our own poem using one of the shared images as inspiration to illustrate the awe and wonder of the world around us.
