Year 5 - Autumn 2
Week beginning 24th November & 1st December 2025
Over the last couple of weeks in Year 5, it has been quite busy! All 3 classes attended the Victorian trip to Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich. A fabulous time was had by all and they learned all about what a household was like in the past. The highlight for a lot of children was making their own butter!
On the 3rd December, we all enjoyed Christmas jumper day and our roast dinner at lunch time. On Friday 5th December, the children enjoyed non-uniform in aid of Elfridges organised by the PTA.
Week beginning 17th November 2025
This week, Year 5 had their second Squash session and are loving it! They are really developing their skills and the coaches are impressed with the children.
On Wednesday, we had 'Positive Noticing Day' for Agents of Change. The children expressed their gratitude to their friends, peers and adults, which was lovely to see. All the children earned an Agents of Change stamp.
In French, the children have been learning about places to live and worked in pairs to match the images to the correct written statement, which tested their French reading skills.
Sadly, our hockey lesson this week was rained off, so we did an indoor session of Matball (using beanbags). The children worked really well as teams and enjoyed being competitive with each other.
Week beginning 3rd November 2025
Welcome back to Year 5 for Autumn 2!
We kickstarted off the term with our first PE session of Hockey. The children learnt how to hold the hockey stick correctly and how to dribble accurately. They also began to explore Sketchpad in computing, which the children thoroughly enjoyed using and working out how to use the different tools. In History, we began our Victorians topic and explored the historical timeline of key events in that era. Overall, a great first week back!
