Summer 2
Week beginning 22nd June 2026
In Geography, we have been learning about the human and physical features of Italy. This week, we were learning about Earthquakes. Due to the hot weather, we thought it would be fun to use water to learn about how shockwaves move away from the epicentre of an earthquake. Children had trays of water and added floating 'countries and continents' (maths resources). We then dropped a marble into the water to create 'shockwaves' across the land. The children enjoyed watching the ripples spread and change the further away from the epicentre they got. It was also lots of fun using the water on a hot day!
