Welcome to Year 2!
Friday 11th September
This week has been a busy one in Y2!
In maths the children have been focussing on the multiples of 10 or the ‘ty’ numbers. They have undertaken lots of practical activities to secure their knowledge.
In science the children have been learning about materials. This week they have been exploring the different materials that objects are made from.
In English the children revisited some of the skills they learnt in Y1 and really enjoyed writing some short stories. It was lovely to see them so enthusiastic about writing.
Friday 4th September
It has been a pleasure to welcome the children back after the summer holiday. We had a great week getting to know the children and learning about North America for our 'Continents Week'. Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed learning about different cultures within the continent, food tasting, making pasta jewellery which represented a country, as well as creating a strong, stable bridge based on the 'Golden Gate Bridge'. The children worked fantastically in their groups, sharing ideas and working out how to improve their designs.
