In PSHE, we will be exploring special people and in RE the children will be exploring the question, 'What does the cross mean to Christians?'.
Our Talk 4 Writing unit this half term is linked to 'The Little Dinosaur'. This is a lost and found story and the children will be focusing on character descriptions.

Another busy week comes to an end! This week, the children have been writing their own versions of 'The LIttle Green Dinosaur' independently. We have been so impressed by the children's resilient attitutude and focus. In maths, the children have continued to develop their understanding of measures by using balancing scales. They have shown an excellent understanding of 'lighter than' and 'heavier than'. The children in Cherry Class finished their wallpaper patterns this week and were very proud of their final designs. In PE, we have been linking different jumps and rolls together to make a sequence and in Science the children have been learning about the terms 'herbivore', 'carnivore' and 'omnivore'.

We have had such a brilliant and busy week in Year 1! The children have written their innovation stories based on 'The Little Green Dinosaur'. We have been so impressed by the children's positive attitudes towards their writing. In maths, the children have started a new unit focusing on measures. We started by using non-standard units to measure the length of objects in the classroom and ended the week measuring lines in centimetres. In science, the children have continued to learn about the structure of different animals. They have also learnt how to safely complete different jumps, in our gymnastic lesson this week. In Cherry Class, the children have been designing their own wallpaper pattern and in Magnolia Class the children have been painting circles with Miss Fisher.

In maths, we finished our unit learning about numbers to 50. The children practised finding one more and less by representing numbers in lots of different ways. We also started out printing unit in art and the children enjoyed practising the different techniques: rolling, pressing and stamping.
