Friday 17th October

This week the children have been learning about Divali, the Hindu festival of Lights. They have enjoyed finding out about it by doing some bhangra dancing, making some chalk rangoli patterns and acting out the story with puppets. The children were thrilled to hear the story of brave Prince Rama,  beautiful and clever Princess Sita and Ravanna the ten-headed demon king! They noticed that Divali is celebrated in ways which they associate with other celebrations such as Christmas and Guy Fawkes night. We were lucky enough to have a visit from West End in Schools Theatre group who led a Divali drama workshop for the children. They were taken through the story with music, drama, games and fun!

On Friday the children wore red to join in with the whole school's Show Racism the Red Card day. They enjoyed getting busy with some red-themed challenges.

Friday 10th October

This week have been delighted to see so much collaborative play. The children have had lots of fun constructing models together, using their wonderful imaginations in role play games and helping to tidy up when the leaves gather in our outside area. The children are becoming so good at using their words to negotiate roles and take turns with equipment and they also listen to their friends' ideas! So much happy learning going on!

Friday 3rd October

This week has brought a change in the weather and the children have enjoyed talking about the autumnal changes they are beginning to see around them. Creative activities using seasonal colours have been popular  The children are continuing to build new friendships and we have been delighted to see how they are confident at exploring all three classrooms,  making the most of our wonderfully spacious setting. The rainy weather did not deter our little explorers as they were keen to put on their wellies and splash in puddles!

Friday 26th September 2025

Our very newest children have now been in school for four weeks and we are so proud of how they are busy making new friendships, exploring our wonderful setting  and learning the routines of our busy school day! We are very lucky to have an extensive forest school area which the children are so excited to visit each week for their Welly Walk!  They have had so much fun as they have found out about which skills turn them into Superhero Learners. The children explored the wider school environment and practised their Super Listening skills on a Listening Walk. Each day there is so much to do: dressing up and dancing, singing favourite songs and learning new ones, exploring paint and mark-making, summiting the climbing frame, riding bikes, getting busy in the builders' yard and so much more! A very popular activity is offering the adults a 'magic drink' from the potion kitchen which can turn them into anything from a frog to a dinosaur! We are in for a fun year in EYFS at Stanway Fiveways with our lovely  imaginative, confident and curious children!
