Monday 5th May 2025.
This week we had fun making our Mickey (or Minnie) Mouse from plaster of Paris using moulds. We need to be careful when making the mixture and filling the moulds to avoid air bubbles.
We also felt incredible proud to take part in VE Day where we imagined we were at VE Day celebrations 80 years ago and wrote postcards to friends and family.
We enjoyed playing cricket in the sun where we focussed on our bowling skills. We’re now ready to be all the skills we have learned into a cricket match in the next session.
We’re now ready to take on the SATs and know that our best is good enough ☺️
Monday 28th April 2025.
This week we have continued our learning about the History of Film . As part of our Whole Class Reading sessions we looked at the life of Charlie Chaplin and the part silent films played in the evolution of film and television. In History we created our own posters announcing the arrival of the Kinetiscope!
In English we completed our innovate writing and planned our independent write where we will write a newspaper article on a topic of our choice. While in Science we looked at how light is reflected along a mirror line along with exploring materials which are opaque, transparent and translucent.
We are definitely ready for a rest and a three day weekend!
Monday 21st April 2025.
We have had a fantastic start to the Summer term, beginning our new topic ' Lights, Camera, Action'. Throughout this topic we will be learning about the history of film and delving into the life of Walt Disney. In Art we will be making a Mickey (or Minnie) Mouse out of plaster of paris. In our first Art lesson this week we planned and designed how we would like our completed model to look.
In English we began our new writing unit, a newspaper report, which will include features such as formal language and engaging language to keep the reader hooked.
In Maths we have really enjoyed finding and plotting coordinates in the four quadrants while in PE we worked on our fielding skills in Cricket.
Let's hope the sun continues to shine :)
